Making Upgrades To Our Filming Studio

It was about time we made some changes in here. If you’ve been following along in our office makeover journey, you’ve seen us makeover about every space in here. When we originally got this studio, this filming room was one of the first spaces we quickly whipped up so that we could start making videos. We then shifted focus to other spaces and left the filming studio on the back burner for a while. It’s not to say that this space is bad, but it was pretty plain and we always found ourselves not wanting to actually film there because it was too bland for the camera. So we officially decided it was time to spice it up.

Before

A couple of our priorities for this space was adding texture, colour, depth and storage that looked aesthetically pleasing. We brainstormed and came up with a couple ways to approach these needs, and gotta say, it turned out pretty cool.

Shelving & Storage Solutions

We built this open shelving grid for the wall to create a way to have convenient yet aesthetic storage for the space. It also doubles as a great backdrop and can be changed constantly depending on the season or mood we want for a video!

Adding Texture

An issue we ran into with the last studio space was the walls feeling too flat on camera - being one colour, whether it be white or an accent colour, can come off as boring and blown out when filming, so to add interest in the background for our videos, we decided to try to integrate lots of colour and texture by creating a collage wall. We stuck to a black and white patterned base layer, but added pops of colour and pattern throughout. Beside this, we also painted the originally orange door with a metallic looking paint to add another texture. The end result is pretty cool and will definitely be fun to film in front of in upcoming videos and projects!

Lighting

Once walls in this corner of the room were camera ready, we needed to add some lighting in the corner to finish it off. Using a hack from a previous video (linked here), we made faux amber light pendants and strung them from the ceiling. Honestly love how this turned out, and now shooting into this corner will be so fun and have so much depth!

Finishing Touches

Last but not least, time to add some life to this space. The shelves were filled, greenery was added, rugs were laid and it really brought it all together.

Final Reveal

Here is the final results of the space! Hope you love it as much as we do!
