Making Over My Small Toilet Room - Making Home

Welcome to my series Making Home where I makeover my newly renovated house into my dream home! If you haven’t seen the previous episodes where I demo my house, go through renovations and finally start decorating then you need to check out our playlist here. I totally transformed my basement bathroom, refreshed my kitchen, made over my bedroom, completed my upstairs rental unit, finished my functional front room, and spruced up my entryway

The next thing I’m taking on is a rather unique space: my toilet room! You may have seen my spa basement bathroom makeover, but that space actually doesn’t include my toilet. I created a separate little room for my toilet for privacy reasons, which is what I’m making over this week.

With this space, I really wasn’t sure where to start. I swapped out the sconce that was there for something that hangs a little lower, and added a gold toilet paper holder. The one thing that I knew I needed in here, and had purposely moved the toilet forward for in the reno, was storage. So I built a small cupboard on the ledge behind the toilet using some plywood.

Next came paint. I decided to go with a dark terracotta colour to add warmth and some moodiness to this tiny space, and installed a trim halfway up the wall with some square lattice wood that I painted the same colour. I also painted the cabinet from earlier for a full cohesive look!

Lastly, I swapped out my vent cover with one that was original to my hundred-year old home, and added some small pieces of decor. Check out my completed toilet room makeover!

I am very happy with how this turned out, I still think I need to add some wallpaper or something like that on top, but for right now I love how it works! To see the whole journey as always, check out the video below!
