DIYing a Unique Book Table Inspired by Pinterest

I’ve have had this book table picture pinned on my personal Pinterest board for a while now and have always wanted to try and make it myself. After doing lots of research, I still can’t seem to find the original maker, but I am so excited to take a go at it myself!

First things first, I collected all the books I wanted in the table. To make the table, I will be using pieces of MDF pilled on top of each other. Each piece will have a cut out of the shapes of the books to fit in to. I traced out all the books I wanted to place in it into the corners of each piece. These cutting measurements will be dependant on the books you use, so customize to your liking!

After cutting out all the ‘book sections’ I was left with these L shaped pieces of MDF to line up with one another.

Now it’s time to sandwich the pieces. Using a clamp, I lined the pieces up together and made sure each piece was aligned / even at the bottom and top. I also have added full rectangular pieces on either end to act as ‘book ends’

Using a long drill bit, I drilled a couple holes across all the pieces to attach them together without using wood glue. Once the holes were drilled all the way through every piece, I used some threaded rods and connector half nuts to secure all the pieces together. Next, I gave it a light sand and it was done!

Time to set it up!

Final Result

**It is worth noting that I will be getting a piece of glass made for the top to protect the books and create a flat surface!
